Widnes takes to the internatioal stage of Copenhagen
Over the Easter weekend we saw a team from WISC take to the skies to travel to Copenhagen to compete in the international Copenhagen Ice Dance Cup. There is always strong competition at this international and some of the best ice dancers attend this very well organised competition.
It started with 1st place for Alex in the free dance, her combined score for free and pattern put her in overall 1st place in the Adult Silver category.
Saule was returning to defend her title but in a new category. She was skating in the Junior ladies category which certainly does have some stiff competition. Saule hasn't been skating in this category long and was facing other ladies who have been in this category for a number of years. She produced a fantastic skate in the Short Dance, but a stumble on twizzles left her fighting for podium places. Saule finished 4th just outside of the top 3. It has been a valuable experience and am sure she will be back in her usual podium spots as she grows in this category.
Caitlyn and Lucy over the weekend were skating in two categories, Novice and Juvenile. This was a 1st international for both skaters whom did WISC very proud and produced some encaptivating, yet memorable performances. Caitlyn pulling out a nostalgic paddington bear performance and Lucy revisiting the famous artist Birdy. Combined with their free dances
Caitlyn placed 8th and Lucy 7th in the Novice categories. In juvenile Caitlyn mustered up a little more magic to place 6th overall.
Jodie returning to the international stage was focussed on tackling the ladies seniors. This is the last year Jodie can compete at this level and she has had to work extremely hard to qualify for these competitions. Her short dance was packed with elegance and energy, and her free dance was full of panaz and entertainment for the audience. Jodie finished a fabulous 5th over all.
WISC is very proud of you all and we look forward to
hearing more about your skating journeys.
